Mike has been a resident in LaGrange for over 15 years. He grew up in Beekman where his parents still reside. Throughout his younger years, Michael spent most of his time In Lagrange. He played Town soccer and was a member of Cub Scouts Pack 82. As a boy scout in Troop 82 he completed his Eagle project at Freedom Park where his family spent a lot of time enjoying the outdoors. Mike graduated from Arlington High School and went to college at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. After he graduated there was no question that LaGrange would be home for him.
Mike has owned and operate Simply Gourmet, a full-service Catering Company, since 2008. Simply Gourmet is currently based on Route 55 in LaGrange. Mike is committed to ensuring that his clients receive the highest quality local food and service that he can offer. Since he founded his company, it has grown to 25 employees and he does business throughout the region.
As a Dutchess County Legislator, Mike has supported the largest property tax cut in County history and sponsored the elimination of sales tax on clothing purchases under $110, ensuring that money stays in the hands of hard-working taxpayers. Mike also secured $3.1 million for the County’s ‘Learn, Play, Create’ Grant for youth programming and organizations that were affected by the pandemic. The grant funding is allowing organizations to help local children make up for lost time.
Last month, Mike introduced and sponsored a local law that would increase transparency from third party delivery services that protects both consumers and restaurants. This legislation came after meeting with several small business owners who were looking for a way to guarantee that the consumer will pay the same online as they would in a restaurant.
